Migrate to 6.5.1

Post by heretique »

Hello,

I'm using Zeos components 6.1.5 for accessing PostgreSQL and FireBird RDBMs in production use - without serious problems so far.

As far as I see, currently version 6.5 is under developement. Do I risk something by moving to 6.5.x version of components? Is there a chance that some old bugs are fixed, or maybe new bugs are introduced in 6.5? :-)

regards,
Tom

heretique, as far I know, no problemo.
Here, I'm using the latest Zeos SVN release in production, and without any worries.
New bugs may come in, it's natural :)
But certainly much of old bugs are fixed now.
You may try it in a test environment, and them move it to production ;)
Use the FU!!!!!IN Google !

And, of course, don't accept every SVN update in production without retesting it. So, if you get todays version for testing and move to production, you better stick with it for a while unless you need some new functionallity/bug fix.
For PostgreSQL and Firebird we don't see a lot of bugs and fixes on the forum so it will probably not be necessary to upgrade very frequently.

Tom,

Never change something that works good without the NEED for change.
In my native language there's a good-old proverb saying the same. My culture has the habit of collecting centuries' wisdom in proverbs. It's a commonplace here that you can trust them without any doubt.

Cheers,
Peter

You can try revision 98, that nwas the last posted here in the forum. We 're now in revision 103, that ahs added functionality to mysql for myembedded server and some new events. it seems to work fine for me. but maybe bugs can appear, but in normal functionality there si no problem with rev 103.

Hi Fduenas,

You're a little behind. A few days ago I posted rev 102 (by editing the rev 98 post). So your added functionallity is also available for normal download.
