Installing in windows xp

I am learning Lazarus and so am no expert.
I want to try your Form generator but I am well along with Firebird 2.5. which is not supported by your latest stable release version.
Knowing this is not a release version I don't expect perfection.
I found a note on your forum that the latest development update contained support for Firebird 2.5 and tracked that download to sourceforge,
I download the zeoslib-packages.tar.gz and unpacked the Lazarus stuff.
I tried to install but 3 of the 5 components failed to compile.
I find that there are 5 .lpk files.
I tried to compile each alone but each has errors.
Is this normal because I do not know what I am doing or is there a simple answer like a missing pre-req?
Your 'read me' instructions are rather cavalier, stating simply "Open Components.Lpk" not mentioning which or all?
