PostgreSQL and XML into BLOB

Hi,
If I use PostgreSQL 7.4 (under Debian 4.0 testing) I can not save my XML report file into the DB, but If I use the PostgreSQL 8.1 (under Debian 4.0 testing) I can save it. This program is writen with Kylix3/Delphi7 and can run on Windows with PostreSQL 8.x and Firebird 1.0-1.5.x-2.0.
The error message is something like this: "... SQL... syntax error". According to my partner...
