Glad too hear that you are in a hurry, too. No I'm not really in a hurry but Zeos is one of the last collection, I mainly use, which is not really D2009 ready.
And to be honest I don't want to switch to any commercial commercial project as I'm programming mainly in my spare time and don't want to spend much money just for fun.
If you need alpha testers for the Firebird part I will certainly jump in.

And if you change all Char to AnsiChar and all String to AnsiString, PChar to PAnsiChar, ...?
I think, then it will be working. But not with unicode support, but working.

That was my first sight, too. I already did this and get a working copy on my hands.
BUT, Delphi is entire unicode now, meaning that every interaction Zeos <-> Delphi will be done in unicode (like locates, lookups, fieldbyname, SQL building.. all).
It's a dead end. Or we do a good and deep conversion, or it will never work, because we can't get rid of unicode at all.
It's uglier than it looks

Unicode changing on Delphi 2009+ will affect a lot of lines, that may be revisited with come care, not a trash job as this unnoficial Zeos2009.rar, which I found too. It compiles but don't work as expected.
The conversion status is: I'm having some troubles at the Plain Drivers and DBC layers. There's no alpha, beta, 'cause it don't work yet.
I have the same hurry as you may have, I want to use D2009, but the only component which don't work is Zeos. I'm working on it, but it may take some time to stay OK.
Why you don't publish your code on SVN ?
If you want i can give svn server for community destined to convert to unicode.
