Zeos 8.0?

Post by aehimself »

If I am not mistaken due to the differences and advancements introduced in 7.3, it was seen as a better choice to bump up the main version instead?

I see that a couple of branches were renamed too. Let's see if Git will automatically follow these or I have to recreate my repository :)

Cheers!

Egonhugeist first suggested to release an 8.x version. Fix versions ,most probably will be called 8.x in the future. And any successor for Zeos 8.x will be called Zeos 9.x eventually.

I think what I was meant to ask is if there is going to be a Zeos 7.3 or 7.3 (as we knew it until now) will be Zeos 8.0.
I already resynced my git repositories to 8.0 so I'm ready :)

P.s.: Zeos 9 sounds sexy. Idk why, it sounds a lot more serious than 6 or 10.

Zeos 7.3 got renamed into Zeos 8.0. So it basically is the same. I assume, we mostly changed the numer because we never knew when to increment which part of the version number otherwise. But we can also assume, that this follows what is known as Semantic Versioning. This new version of Zeos definitly has changes that break backwards compatibility. Also most point releases had new features in the past.

That is good to know. I think about creating a Zeos account on github and moving my repo there. Then we could make this an official copy of our SVN repository.

Duh - I hope, I will see that version too. But most probably you will have to wait another two to three years for that version. We should be happy about version 8. According to chinese numerology 8 is a kinda lucky number ;)

Ye, so just what I thought. So I'm working in the good branch again.

I mean... does it really worth it? I don't care if the official copy is hosted by a fictional "Zeos" user or your private one... it's only a copy after all, not the main repo. Sounds good, but doesn't worth the effort if you ask me.

I was already happy with 7.3. I'm not waiting Zeos 9 because of features - only because of how it sounds! :)

It does not matter how long it takes. I'll most probably still be around, contributing if I can. (oh, there's a new pull req on GitHub btw).
