Well, I don't know if it applies in this situation but I ran some threaded stress tests on the 6.1.5 version of ZSqlMonitor (which is identical to the latest 6.5.1 version) and everything checked out fine with no exceptions or AV's. I know that Zeos is a little bit sensitive (very sensitive, actuall...

We don't typically have much use for ZSqlMonitor actually, because the information is relatively sparse. If it could be expanded to provide information about opening/closing datasets, timing etc, that would be very useful. But it sounds like there's a problem in there somewhere. Maybe one of the dev...

Man, all this legalese is hard to read :)

Based on a cursory glance of the FAQ it seems that Zeos (LGPL) would fall under the FOSS Exception category? If so, that would allow Zeos to include and/or link to the libmysql libraries. Thus there would be no problem to develop a ZPlainMySql50 driver.

Did you use any custom logging code in the OnTrace or OnLogTrace events? Did you try any critical sections in those events? I'm asking out of interest because I remember having some intermittent problems with ZSqlMonitor in one app, and then we took it out and it worked fine. But I never thought mor...

Are you sure? GPL'ing libmysql would be a totally insane move of MySQL.

Like shooting yourself in the foot with a .357 or something.

We're using Zeos in heavily multithreaded servers and it works excellently. The only thing we've noticed in regard to ZSqlMonitor is that it hooks into all possible ZConnection objects, regardless of thread, so you should only have one in your app. AFAIK, DriverManager is a global collection of data...

It's very... international

I was just browsing through the forum membership list, and I noticed that the members seem to be very much from Europe or South America. It seemed a little strange to me, that normally United States is pretty much overrepresented wherever you go, but not here. Is this some statistic anomaly; or is i...

I use Zeos-6.1.5, so I don't know if anything has changed, but based on that version... DBConnection1.Catalog should not by 'mysql-4.1'. You should assign that to Protocol instead. The Catalog property should be left blank. Actually, I have no idea what Catalog does myself, I never had to touch it. ...

From what I've heard and seen, most things in 6.5.1 is mostly bug patches. In my view, it really should be more stable than 6.1.5. On the other hand, since we're still running Delphi5 at work (the Big Switch to 2k5 coming up any day now), we haven't been able to try it out. So it's all anectodal evi...

I don't want to start any discussion about this, but I think it's premature to call Delphi a "dead IDE". If you pour over the blogs from within Borland, and many other sources, I think the sale of the IDE's comes across in a different light. The intention as I've understood it is to let De...

Michael, Thanks for the information. We love Zeos for its simplicity, mainly - no BDE, no ADO, no ODBC connections, no big bulky framework - and we'd love to see it continue as a successful product. Personally, I'm not sure what lies ahead for Zeos? I guess improving database connections? As far as ...

Okay, Just for all you guys who've been sitting on the edge of your seats now, biting your fingernails and desperately wondering if ZeosLib is stable enough for multithreaded development, the jury is in and has reached the following verdict: ZeosLib is stable. :wohow: Phew. We finally located the pr...

Strange access violations

We're having problems with some of our software, which has been going on for a long time and quite frankly we're at our wits end here. :book: Sometimes, very infrequently, something goes boom! And it always has to do with threaded applications. The programs work fine for hours, days... and then, sud...
